About the series

This series has a prequel that is free at time of posting (check before you grab a copy) here

Who do you trust when your world unravels and everything you believed is a lie?

For the past fifteen years, The Office of Civilian Safety and Defense has guarded the public against the rampant threat of terrorism. Teenagers Tommy and Careen have never known life without Civilian Restrictions. For them, there's no social media. No one is allowed to gather in public places or attend concerts or sporting events. Only a small, select group of adults have driving privileges, but it's a small price to pay for safety.

Now a new, more deadly, terrorist threat looms: airborne chemical weapons that can be activated without warning. The OCSD is ready with an antidote to counteract the effects of the toxins. Three drops a day is all it takes. It's a small price to pay for health.

The day the disaster sirens signal the dreaded attack, Tommy shares his last dose with Careen, even though doing so might hasten his death. It's a small price to pay for a friend.Follow Tommy and Careen as they uncover a web of lies and deceit reaching to the highest levels of the United States government and join an underground resistance group that's determined to expose the truth.

"Counteract is a novel for our times, but with a decidedly different plot twist. Most dystopian thrillers focus on the devastating consequences of the unleashed virus or poison on society, community, and the individual. They become character studies of the protagonists and antagonists.

"Tracy Lawson's novel asks an even more disturbing question--what if the real culprit was someone or something we trusted? I thought The Hunger Games might be the Millennial generation's version of George Orwell's 1984. Now, I think Counteract and the Resistance Series are more primed to take that spot."--SR Staley, author of St. Nic, Inc., and the Tortuga Bay series.

Jenni's Reviews

Counteract (Resistance #1)Counteract by Tracy Lawson
Jenni's rating: 4 of 5 stars

***Review has been gifted in exchange for my honest opinion and on behalf of Kats Book Promotions/ Katsindiebookblog.*** This is a dystopia thriller at its best. The US as you know it now, no longer exists. Instead of states, you are in a quadrant. Instead of a president, you have a Quadrant Master. With an imminent threat lurking around the corner causing airborne attacks, the government created an antidote to ward off the threat. Or is this just all a ploy to find out how loyal and willing you are towards the government?
In the beginning you immediately get to know the main characters of the story. I was slightly confused in the beginning, however the more I read, the easier it became to read. I was curious as to why you kept on jumping from character to character, but you quickly understand why that is the case. These characters are all linked in some form of fashion. You will just have to read to find out how.
You will be kept on your toes with this fast paced story. When you think you have something figured out, think again. Easy answers are not in here. You will not be disappointed with this story!

Resist (Resistance #2)Resist by Tracy Lawson
Jenni's rating: 4 of 5 stars

***Review has been gifted in exchange for my honest opinion and on behalf of Kats Book Promotions/ Katsindiebookblog.*** If you were happy with the first book, you will not be disappointed with the next book in this series. The writing gets better and better with each book, if that’s possible. You are immediately sucked right back in where you were left off in the first book.
Tommy and Careen are on their journey to save everyone, if that’s even possible. They are put through many twists and turns while working on their relationship. With dealing with the resistance, can everyone work together to get the job done, can relationships stay in tacked? The only way to find out is to continue reading into this great series.

Ignite (Resistance #3)Ignite by Tracy Lawson
Jenni's rating: 4 of 5 stars

***Review has been gifted in exchange for my honest opinion and on behalf of Kats Book Promotions/ Katsindiebookblog.*** This is possibly the best book of the series. Each character is definitely showing their true colors which all the turmoil that is going on. There are so many different personalities, however they blend really well together.
With all that is going on; the OCSD doing everything they can to retain its power, the Resistance doing whatever they can to protect the population from the OCSD, Tommy is doing whatever it takes to free Careen. There is plenty action going on in this book which will keep you drawn to it.
This is a really a great series all around; between characters, plots, and the fact you are constantly own your toes waiting to see what happens next. This should be everyone’s next read!
