Review of Pursued: Mia (Blood Courtesans Series) by Liza Carlisle & Michell Fox @LisaCBooks @AuthorMFox

33304998It was only meant to be three nights...
After watching my mother die, becoming a Blood Courtesan is key to my future in medicine. With loans racking up, all I have to do is pretend I want the money for tuition, and I’m hired. No one can know the real reason for wanting this job.
But it isn’t as easy as it first seems. On my first night as a courtesan at a ball in Salem, I meet vampires for the first time—and flee.
Vampires are not easy dissuaded. And one in particular, Renato, offers me a proposal I find difficult to resist. He has a dark, smoldering appeal that lures me in. Plus, I might gain the insight I seek.
I’m supposed to provide a service and will be paid well for it. But my feelings complicate our arrangement—and endanger my life.
It was only meant to be three nights, but can I walk away now?
Welcome to the shadow world of Blood Courtesans…where vampires are real and blood is a commodity.
It's not supposed to be about love...until it is.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mia decides that becoming a Blood Courtesan is key to her paying her loans for medical school, not an uncommon reason for young girls for becoming one, but she also has an ulterior motive that the vampires must not find out. Being a studious girl Mia is not ready for the aggressive vampire Gideon, so she leaves her first 'ball' but on the way home she is offered a lift home by the vampire who intervened with Gideon's brash come-on.
Renato, Italian, dark, suave and much more refined than Gideon doesn't frighten Mia as much, in fact she feels an attraction towards him and accepts the lift back.
Renato is intrigued by Mia too, and offers her a contract that she can't refuse. It was only meant to be three nights, a business transaction... But sometimes fate and what the heart wants, override the logic. Mia is falling for Renato, will Renato listen to his heart? Or will his rival Gideon see an opportunity for past slights in the form of the Innocent Mia?
The storyline had a good flow, I enjoyed the authors take on Mia's reasons for her focus on her medical goals.
Rival vampires Gideon and Renato gave the storyline some suspense and action when they inevitably fight over Mia.
Overall it was another great story from this Blood Courtesan series
