Celestine is the most flawed person in Humming, but as she hides from the whistleblowers and Judge Crevan she doesn't know who to trust.
But it seems that the population is unhappy, but scared to act against the Guild in fear that they too may be deemed 'Flawed'.
I found this book hard to put down, it's faster paced than book one, and Celestine is finding that she has more courage than she thought.

I found this book hard to put down, it's faster paced than book one, and Celestine is finding that she has more courage than she thought.
Not only is this book a good story, the underlying message that it gives the reader is a prompt to look within yourself and see how you would fare if you lived in Celestine's world. How would I have reacted, would I have ignored the injustice that happened on that bus? Or would I have stood up for what I believed was right?
Celestine made her choice in book one, and in this book, she is living with the consequences and dealing with being on the run from the system who now realise that she could bring them all down.
Those who offer to help her, have their own agenda, the task of just surviving seems impossible, will Celestine not only survive, but bring about the end of an unjust regime?
I suggest you buy this book and see for yourself.
The ending was brilliant, the tension built and Ms. Ahern kept it going until the end. The last chapter I would love to quote, as it is a good one to remember - but I don't do spoiler reviews, so I will just keep it in my heart for when I need a pep talk.
but one I will quote that touched me while reading is this:
end of Chapter 59: "And there are the very special people in our lives who have the endless capacity to love us for all of our flaws"
This was after Celestine and her mother speak to each other. As a mother myself, this really did resonate with me, and as a daughter too... even at my advancing years, when my mother shows her pride in what I do - it means the world to me.
I will most definitely be re-reading this series in the future and checking out the author's Contemporary genre too.
