Publication Date: Jan 17th, 2017
Primary Genres: Paranormal Fantasy, Legends & Mythology Occult & Supernatural

Six months ago, Ashling Campbell’s life was good. Okay, so the sleep deprivation sucked, but that’s what happens when you’re murdered by bloodthirsty demons on a nightly basis via freaky supernatural nightmares. That’s why she stepped up to her calling as a dreamwalker. But if she’d known that saving her town meant giving up everyone she loved, she’d have let that call go straight to voicemail. She wants another chance. Just one. And the key to that chance lies with finding the mysterious stranger who disappeared shortly after her life went to hell. Her new mission is to dreamwalk again, or die trying. The Jumlin wants another chance too. Just one. And the key to that chance lies with finding the weird sophomore who showed up just before he could summon hell on earth. His new mission is to stop the line of dreamwalkers, by killing just one - a girl that seems all too eager to die. If Ash’s plan is to succeed, she’ll have to outsmart the immortal demon, piece together her thorny family tree, deal with a friend’s untimely return, and pass her driver’s test - all before she turns… SIXTEEN.

Sixteen (The Dreamwalker Diaries #2)Sixteen by Jen Estes
Kats rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***

I must say I do love the covers on this book. So its a few years since I read Fifteen, but I soon got back into the mythological tale of the Jumlin and our Dreamwalker Ashling, who tries and succeeded to stop his chance to take over the world, but the cost was too much for Ash and she wants a redo... She wants another chance to dreamwalk, to go back and try again. No spoilers but Ash causes a fair few problems with this quest to go back into the past, although she gains a new perspective on her life, it causes the Jumlin to catch on to who the Dreamwalker is and is dead set on getting another chance too. The first book really interested me, I have always had a thing for Native Indian legends, but this book seemed to be a bit of a filler, yes it introduces where the Dreamwalker line is from (AKA Ash's Paternal line) but there were a few things that confused me, I can't say what as it would spoil the story, but it is the Future Ash coming back that caused me to wonder why she would do that, causing her 16-year-old self to get into trouble. The ending has left it open for the next book to see if Ash and her friends succeed in stopping the Jumlin once and for all. View all Kat's  reviews

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.***

This was a great follow up to Fifteen. I fell in love with the first book and this one does not disappoint. This book is filled with all the answers you can think of that you may have asked reading Fifteen.
You are still thrown into much action with this story as Ash is trying to right a wrong, one that will give her something she's wanted for a long time. The Jumlin is still out there using all his powers and demons to get what he's always wanted. Could it be possible now with all of Ash's mistakes? Or can her and get friends stop him once again. It's really hard to do this particular review out of fear of giving too much away. Dreamwalking becomes more frequent this time around, people who she thought was other people is not the case. Mysteries are definitely solved in this story. You will not be disappointed in this follow up, and it will make you excited about the next book in the series, I know I am!

Book 1

Legend has it if you die in your dreams, you die in real life. Fifteen-year-old Ashling Campbell knows that’s not true because when she closes her eyes each night, she doesn’t dream about public nudity or Prom dates. Instead, she’s catapulted to the front row of her future self’s execution - fifteen years from now - where monsters have taken control of her hometown and she, or rather, her 30-year-old counterpart, is their public enemy number one. For three months and counting, it’s been the same dream… until an encounter with an antique dreamcatcher. Ash falls asleep to discover she’s no longer a mere spectator in these dreams - now she’s astral-projecting into the body of her future self. Each night, she goes on the run with a ragtag group of rebels - who have no idea she’s really a high school sophomore and not their noble warrior. She has to make it through each night so that she can wake up and find a way to change the future. For every action she does in the present day, she falls asleep to discover it had an equal impact fifteen years later. It’s up to her to manage her two worlds and make sure she’s still got a place in both. My review can be read here

Mer-Charmer (World of Aluvia, #2)Mer-Charmer by Amy Bearce
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

*** Gifted in exchange for my honest review***
This is Book 2 in this series and it seemed a much more even pace and the world building and the action underwater had my imagination taking flight, I really wanted to grab my paintbrush and start to paint the images appearing in my mind. I've always loved the sea, swimming and the underwater city which was in ruins would be an image I would like to recreate.

Phoebe although she seemed not as Strong a main character as Sienna was in The Fairy Keeper, grew on me as she believed grew stronger in her belief in herself. Tristan was my favourite character, Mina too was a good secondary character.
The wraiths were very scary and the beast was a formidable evil entity... The scene where Phoebe finally confronts the beast was a very good twist, I really enjoyed how the final battle ended, although I felt sorry that Phoebe had to sacrifice as much as she did.
The book once again gives a good message to its readers, about not giving up, sticking to your principles and that courage comes in all forms, shapes and sizes.

I look forward to book 3 and finding out about Nell's adventure.
I would recommend this series for tweens teens and all fantasy readers who wish to never loose their inner child.

synopsis
Can a demon’s heart of ice be thawed? Ash may have escaped death several times, but now things are finally looking up. The doppelganger is gone, she’s dating Leo, and the Venantium are staying away from her - for now. But a new threat rises from the Darkworld, and only the fortune-teller knows the true extent of the danger they’re in. Lucifer, a sorcerer who did the impossible and cheated death through escaping to the Darkworld, is on the move. Now his second-in-command, Mephistopheles the demon, is loose in our world - and will do anything to win Ash over to his side. The Venantium fear a repeat of the Demon Wars, the demonic invasion that wiped out the Blackstone family. But there’s more to those events than the records reveal. When Ash finds the lost diary of Melivia Blackstone, she starts to dig into the past to find the town’s forgotten history - leading to a revelation that shocks her to the core. Leo seems to be the only person Ash can rely on, yet can she truly open up to him, knowing what she is? Blackstone’s dark history is rising to the surface, and it seems even memory can lie. The worst betrayal waits around the corner, and Ash has to decide whether to trust Leo with her darkest secret, even when it has the potential to destroy them both…

Demon Heart (Darkworld, #3)Demon Heart by Emma L. Adams Jenni's rating: 4 of 5 stars I am giving this review on behalf of Kats Book Promotions/ Katsindiebookblog. Such a great addition to this series, and yet how the ending is, could there be a possibility of another one in the future? I do hope so! Granted there is not as much action as the previous books, this book still keeps you on your toes, and the fights are still awesome! Ash and her friends are now forced to deal with yet another evil, known as Lucifer, who has seemed to escape the Darkworld along with his 2nd in command Mephistopheles. Could it be possible that there will be another Demon War? Or will Ash and her friends be able to save it, yet again? With so much going on, Ash is still hiding secrets. Will she finally let them be known or will she continue to hide them? Ash and Leo are finally together but yet she is still holding back in the relationship. Can she truly open up and fully enjoy their relationship? Or will it have the potential to completely destroy them? This is a quick, yet a good read with quite a few twists in the story. A great and unique writing style as well. I would definitely recommend this book! View all Jenni's reviews

  AUTHOR BIO

Emma spent her childhood creating imaginary worlds to compensate for a disappointingly average reality, so it was probably inevitable that she ended up writing speculative fiction. She was born in Birmingham, UK, which she fled at the first opportunity to study English Literature at Lancaster University. In her three years at Lancaster, she hiked up mountains, skydived in Australia, and endured a traumatic episode involving a swarm of bees in the Costa Rican jungle. She also entertained her creative writing group and baffled her tutors by submitting strange fantasy tales featuring dragons and supernatural monsters to workshops. These included her first publication, a rather bleak dystopian piece, and a disturbing story about a homicidal duck (which she hopes will never see the light of day).

Now a reluctant graduate, Emma refuses to settle down and be normal. When not embarking on wild excursions and writing fantasy novels, she edits and proofreads novels for various publishing houses and reads an improbable number of books. Emma is currently working on the Alliance series, a multiple-universe adult fantasy featuring magic, monsters, cool gadgets and inappropriate humour. Her upper-YA urban fantasy Darkworld series is published by Curiosity Quills Press.
