An heir to Blood and Power by Blair Babylon Audible review

Book 1

BLURB

He’s one of the world’s most eligible billionaires, tall, hot, royal, and ripped, and he just drunk-married a stranger in Las Vegas.

Me. Nicolai Romanov drunk-married me, a recently dumped HR rep from Nebraska, though I was just trying to keep a hot drunk dude with sad eyes from face-planting into traffic.

Worse, he livestreamed the wedding on social media. Thousands of people saw it.

Including a Russian organized crime boss who’d had plans for Nicolai, and the Russian government that keeps tabs on people who might want to claim the rightful crown.

Now, Nicolai has offered me a shocking amount of money to stay married to him for one year so he can sort these fatal problems out.

One, long, hard, completely platonic year.

So now I’m trapped in a hotel suite at the Billionaire Sanctuary private club, eyeing the hottest man in history from across the room, while he eyes me back.

If you haven't heard/read book 1 ๐Ÿ›‘ stop now and Read my review here

Okay you have... Continue ๐Ÿ˜

BLURB

Nicolai Romanov is one of the world’s most eligible billionaires, tall, royal, hot, and ripped, and he just drunk-married a commoner off the streets of Las Vegas.

And the worst part is, he’s falling in love with her.

But surely there’s no way Lexi Byrne, a recently jilted bride from Nowhere, Nebraska, can fit into Nicolai’s dazzling, jet-set, royal billionaire world.

Not at a huge Vegas nightclub party with more royal titles than a historical romance novel.

Not among his tall, gorgeous, eerily beautiful friends who look like they stepped out of a romantasy series.

Not when her ex-fiancรฉ of course stumbles across them in the casino.

And definitely not when a Russian mafia boss begins hunting them down, angry that Lexi stole the rich prince he wanted to marry to his bratva princess daughter.

Because with Nicolai’s royal blood and his bratva’s power, Demyan Volkov could rule the world.
And nothing will stop him.

If you love:

  • Slooow burn that turns to ::fans self:: SPICE.
  • Royal shenanigans.
  • Insta-MARRIED in Las Vegas.
  • A hot, tall, ripped MMC who behaves like an adult.
  • A thriller with romance that will have your heart racing!

You’ll LOVE Blair Babylon’s Thrillers that Bang

REVIEW

First off ... Listen to book 1 before listening to this book!

Lexi and Nico negotiate and react to the situation of their marriage, their is more๐ŸŒถ️ in this book, but also this one is even more hilarious as Lexi's POV in some situations literally had me in stitches.

I thought this book was charming, entertaining with a touch of humor with Lexi's naivety and her misunderstandings and her ideas as a book, but with Blair narrating, I was literally in stitches throughout the book.

Gabriel is an excellent narrator, he brings Nicolai to life and even when he's narrating Lexi's part he brings the story to life.

We also get to meet more of Nico's inner circle, Lexi has her job cut out for her, when she is plunged into the world of the Uber Rich and Royalty elite.

The nightclub scenario.. when Lexi gets it into her head that Nico and his Beautiful Court... We'll let's not spoil it. But OMG I got it a lot more since I have just finished ACOTAR ๐Ÿ˜‚ .

The story is fast paced and you are swept up into the story.

There is a hint of what's to come as you end this book, and I'm sure that the danger and suspense will ramp up in book 3.

I'm not an ardent Audiobook listener but this series definitely pulls me into the storyline easily and I didn't have a problem stay focused in the story.

Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜

She wakes bound on the back of a horse.

The gods are gone.

And the world is no longer gentle.

Tsunala is carried through a land that no longer remembers mercy—guarded by monsters, watched by a half-breed who should be her enemy, and pulled toward truths she is not ready to name. Power lingers beneath her skin, unclaimed and dangerous.

As desire stirs where fear should live, something ancient begins to breathe again. The gods, long silent, are waking—not as legends, but as beings who can bleed, ache, and love.

This is a story about what happens when divinity remembers its humanity.

And what it means to belong to a world that no longer believes in you.

For readers drawn to character-driven fantasy with mythological elements, devotion, and emotional intensity—this is the beginning of the Abandoned Gods series.

Review

A Masterclass in Atmospheric World-Building & Character Consistency
This is the best audio book I've listened to in my brief audiobook listening period.
I find sometimes audiobooks do not hold my attention. (Quicksilver & ACOTAR ๐Ÿ˜ถ‍๐ŸŒซ️๐Ÿซฃ) BUT this was not the case this time.

AUDIOBOOK INFO:

The Keepers, the first book in The Abandoned Gods series by Alys Mackay.

#check the trigger warnings.
The audiobook features a true multicast narrative produced by the incredible team at Blue Nose Audio. Having a whole lineup of distinct voice actors consistently playing their specific characters completely changes the experience!
Huge credit goes to the full cast of narrators:
๐ŸŽง June deBorahae
๐ŸŽง Keeley Darling
๐ŸŽง James Cassidy
๐ŸŽง Edward Black
๐ŸŽง Benjamin Sands
๐ŸŽง Troy Duran

Pros

๐ŸŒŒ Immersive, Layered World-Building (With a Twist!)
From the very first line—"She wakes bound on the back of a horse"—you are thrown into a world that no longer remembers mercy. The world-building here doesn't rely on massive information dumps. Instead, Alys Mackay masterfully lulls the reader into a specific reality, only to slowly shift the ground beneath your feet. Every single encounter Tsunala has acts like a chisel, peeling away another layer of her shrouded past and lost history.
The character art is an extra bonus. (See below)
This was so helpful for visualizing Kitor, a half-Verbeeg (type of giant/human) character who meets the main protagonist, Tsunala, right at the start. The opening was incredibly intense!
⚖️ Tsunala vs. The Typical Romantasy Heroine:
What completely won me over, though, is Tsunala’s character consistency. In a lot of popular dark romantasy books—for instance, Quicksilver, which I finished in May —we often see a tough, fierce heroine who instantly changes once she enters the Fae realm, switching constantly between whiny hate and sudden desire for the male lead.
Tsunala is a breath of fresh air. Even while bound on a horse and surrounded by immediate danger, she stays entirely constant in herself. Instead of panicking or obsessing over romance, she focuses on gaining knowledge about her situation. She reacts with a realistic, raw vulnerability born from her blank slate of memories, relying on pure survival instincts.
As the book develops, Tsunala continues to explore her feelings in a way that feels completely earned.
She was honest about her emotions once she started to piece together her identity while navigating the psychological tension and an emotional intensity that kept me completely hooked. ( There are some inner dialogue where she doubts herself, but she soon pushes through them)

⏳ A Slow, Rewarding Slow-Burn
Although I don't want to get into the romance plot too much ( no spoilers here)
The sexual dynamic builds beautifully after she has spent time learning a bit about herself and her surroundings, but she does have her doubts and regrets.

Cons

๐Ÿค” So what didn't I like, (BUT I DON'T THINK THAT THIS DESERVED IT NOT TO BE 5/5 ⭐) BUT I give honest reviews and so I will share them:

๐Ÿ‘š Costumes
At the start, the clothing feels traditionally gritty and fantasy-esque—like when Kitor gives her a jacket and a shirt, while the Old Fae at the  market was described in classic robes. But further in, once Tsunala gets to the Fae estate, she ends up wearing T-shirts and leggings. For me, T-shirts felt a bit too modern and created a jarring contrast against the mythical realm vibe. I usually expect tunics, shifts, or more era-appropriate garments in a setting like this, so it was definitely an unexpected stylistic choice.

My final thoughts

Highly recommend ๐ŸŽง
If you’re looking for a highly immersive escape with deep, logical character growth, I highly recommend checking out this production.✨ This is my top audio recording for 2026 so far 5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Review of Her Unexpected Joy by Caitlyn O'Leary, Jasper Creek series #9

Her Unexpected Joy: Small Town Romantic Suspense (Protectors of Jasper Creek Book 9)

Publication date ‏ : ‎ July 19, 2026

Blurb

What if the moment everything went wrong was actually the moment everything went right?

Zoe Avery has always been able to laugh her way through anything. A snowstorm? No problem. A ditch? Inconvenient, but manageable. A broken cell phone in the middle of nowhere Tennessee? Annoying, sure.

Going into labor, eight months pregnant with her sister's baby, alone on a deserted mountain road? Yeah. Even Zoe couldn't joke her way through that one.

Then a stranger appeared out of the whiteout. Steady hands. Calm eyes. A four-year-old named James who thought delivering a baby in a Ford F-150 was the coolest thing that had ever happened to him.

Adam Beckett wasn't looking for chaos that night. But somehow, chaos had never looked quite so worth staying for.

Review

I'll start by saying this is one of my favorite series.

This book opens with the continuation of the ending scene in book 8 Her Unending Horizon, and I have waited patiently to find out what happened when Zoe Avery went in the ditch... At 8 months pregnant ๐Ÿซฃ, with her sisters baby she was being surrogate for.

So the beginning of this book starts out with a pretty nail-biting scene.

I'm glad I had a pretty lazy week planned so I've ignored the chores and kept turning the pages as our Hero of the hour

Adam Beckett (and his adorable son James) find Zoe in the ditch in the snowstorm going into labor, alone on a deserted mountain road?

Yeah intense!

But again Ms O'Learys words brought the scene to life, Adam with 4 years old James, who brought some lighter moments throughout the delivery in the back of Adam's Ford F-150 (All I could think of was that it's a good job Americans like super sized utes ๐Ÿคฃ.)

We get a sweet slow burn romance, with a bit of suspense from both Zoe's and Adams workplaces.

Favorite character... James

Favorite scene... When James is talking about sleepovers ๐Ÿ˜‰

The book was everything I was waiting for, and yay there'll be another book in October ๐Ÿ˜ go

grab your copy now.

Even Though, Even If, Even When...

Philip Avery and Rose Everhart are bound by fate, their connection undeniable, their souls intertwined by something deeper.

But destiny is never simple. Fate can be cruel, and love isn’t always enough.

Torn between his pack and Rose—his trium perfectum, the one person meant to balance his magic, heart, and very being. Philip walks away when his alpha demands a choice—his pack or Rose—leaving behind the one person who truly saw him

Even after heartbreak and separation, their souls refuse to sever.

Philip and Rose must decide: Can love survive the weight of regret? And is redemption possible when the person you hurt is the one you’ve always belonged to?

Review

I have not read the authors other work, other than a short story about glitter bombing pixes. And that didn't really help me understand what was happening in this world the story is based. But it was an entertaining novella ๐Ÿ˜ and made me want to know more about the world, which is why I read this book.

In this story We follow Phillip and Rose, who share a magical bond from the moment they meet as kids, but they somehow know it's not the time to fully connect. Is a lovely sweet childhood friendship/blossoming romance.

As the story developed, Phillip ended up doing, what I thought was something out of character to the boy he was in the beginning, but if he hadn't, I guess the storyline would have been a bit boring ๐Ÿ˜‰ and let's face it, peer pressure is real for teenagers.

Anyone who reads my reviews, knows I don't do spoiler reviews. But at the end of the story, we have Rose and Phillip and their bond connected with them happy at the end of the book.

What I liked:

It feels like the start of a massive, epic story arc and I enjoyed the authors writing style. I loved following Phillip and Rose's journey!

What still confused me:

If  this had been a fated mate storyline I would have not been confused but with this emphasis on three...

The whole Trium Perfectum ? ( I googled it in Latin it's basically reads, Threes is perfect) And series is called "Trium Perfectum" ... yet there are only TWO of them?! ๐Ÿง Is there a third person missing? Are the answers hidden in the author's previous books or will this be revealed further on in other books?

Update -

I reached out to the Authors PA and they said Accidental Faerie Tale and Even After are prequels.

Conclusion:

If you love stories where a hidden magical realm seamlessly twists into our normal world, you need this on your radar. BUT maybe don't jump in part way through a series ๐Ÿซฃ like I did, look at the other books first:

So I'm concluding this review with saying I suggest reading 'An Accidental Faerie Tale first Even After ☺️

Metal Slinger: Fire & Metal, Book 1 Audiobook Review

Metal Slinger: Fire & Metal, Book 1

Rachel Schneider (Author), & 2 more Format: Audible Audiobook

Book 1 of 2: Fire & Metal

Book Link https://amzn.to/4vtTJhX

Blurb

The breakout romantasy sensation by Rachel Schneider that has taken the internet by storm—bursting with suspense, romance, and breathtaking twists, this heart-stopping debut also includes a bonus scene from the highly anticipated sequel, Light Wielder.

Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta—the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people—and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true.

Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart.

Packed with knife fights and seafaring adventure, Metal Slinger is the smash-hit start to the romantic fantasy duology, the Fire & Metal series.

Audiobook Review

Listening to this book via my library app.

The book was recommended after I had finished Quicksilver. Although this is less graphic to start due to the Alaha rules of no hanky panky before marriage, by chapter 50 it gets graphic, but I preferred the slow burn as I think gives more time for the storyline to flesh out.

I enjoyed the beginning of this storyline, you think this book is a bit like a fantasy Waterworld and Swashbuckling sea folk. But by the middle we find out that Brynns origin has been a lie and shes not some orphan sea urchin.

Once Acre (not sure that is the correct spelling but that is what it sounds like) has  Brynn asking questions about her past where she learns not only is she not an orphan, but that she's been hidden from her magic, things start ramping up in the adventure and their relationship.

I thought this at first when Acre came on the scene that l knew what would happen... Whether that pans out by the end, I'm not sure. But I'm enjoying it so far.

What I liked about the MFC

That Brynn, although was seen as lower than the other Alaha residents, she was never not kind. She is a good main character. - LoL I wrote that in the first half... I wonder what Brynn (Jo) will be like in book 2.

Poor Acre didn't know what hit him ๐Ÿซฃ

Ok now it's getting very spicy ๐Ÿฅต

And BAM... The plot twists and ๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ณ

WOW that's not where I thought this was going..

Guess I will be checking out book 2 soon as.

But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.

Audio book review

At first It took me a while to get used to the narrator but I soon got into the story.

The story is definitely a slow building storyline, and at times I am having to concentrate on not losing focus (something I find I do with audio book versions) I might even see if I can get a physical copy of the book. To see if the words hold my attention to the story more , but by chapter 17, listening to the scene of the summer fairy..  tears were falling. So yeah I definitely was more engaged in the story.

By the end of chapter 42, I'm getting the distinct feeling that SJ enjoyed making Faere suffer.

Seriously chapter 43 was so hard to listen to ๐Ÿ˜ž.

At 97% to go I'm struggling how this is going to have a happy ending.

Well the ending was intense.

Overall I enjoyed the book, whether reading words would make it more easier to get lost in the story, I'm not sure, but I know that reading words is still my favorite way of getting lost inside of a story.

I will start the second book after my scheduled ARC list for the remainder of the month.

The narrator has an easy voice to listen to, and since I cried at some point, definitely got me emotionally involved with the storyline.

But the book was just too long to get going, there were points when I really was starting to get bored ๐Ÿฅฑ.

The last part of the book redeemed the book, so I can happily give it  4 out of 5 stars

REVIEW
✨✨✨✨✨
What if the life you’ve built isn’t the one you truly want?
Oh isn't that the million dollar question ⁉️
Having moved across the world at 40, I do know how leaving the life you've known, to start again somewhere new feels like (luckily my soulmate moved with me)
I quickly fell into this storyline, as Lucy moved across states to the sleepy town of Green River. She was a character I could emphasize with.
Hudson... Oh Their first meeting was a really good scene, and I did chuckle as Lucy put him in his place.
Hudson was a very likable Book boyfriend, hes handsome but he wasn't arrogant, he's over the lifestyle that the music industry has brought him, and when Lucy stepped into the picture, he knew she was 'The One'.
I liked how the romance was paced, and the funny moments were just right for this to be and easy small-town romance Read.
Infact I have just started an old Nora Roberts book that coincidentally has a female character that Also leaves her unfulfilled life to find herself... And this book has the same easy storytelling that transports the reader into another life and experience... Which is why I read.
I will definitely be looking forward to the next book in this series.

Review of Her Unbroken SEAL by Caitlin O'Leary

BUY NOW
https://amzn.to/39WoKo5

SYNOPSIS

What happens when the man you love is now a stranger?

Lydia Hidalgo has been engaged to Clint Archer for five years. He’d been the love of her life since he’d carried her on his back out of the Mexican jungle. She knew the risk of loving a Navy SEAL, and she’d been happy to take it.

After a harrowing mission, Clint wakes up with no memory of what happened, and a brain that doesn’t feel like his own, he doesn’t know what to do, or who to turn to.

When one of his teammates needs his brand of help, he can’t turn him down, but he doesn’t know if he’s the same man he once was. With his mood swings, can he be trusted to do the job? And what about Lydia? What happens when the man she loved with all her heart, is not who he once was? Is there any way that they can find a way back to one another and finally create the future of their dreams?

This is a stand-alone, but having read book two Her Loyal SEAL, (Lydia and Clint’s first story) in the Midnight Delta series, will enhance your enjoyment. (That book is free on Kindle Unlimited.)

REVIEW

What would you do, when the man you love with all your heart, is not who he once was?

This is the second book to focus on Clint and Lydia, and is set 5 years after book 1 Her Loyal Seal (Book #2) which is one of my favorites and although you can read this as a standalone, I think you will get more from the story if you do.

This story focused on the effects of TBI traumatic brain injury.

After a mission that goes pear shaped, Clint wakes up with no memory of what happened, and a brain that doesn’t feel like his own, he doesn’t know what to do, or who to turn to. He's not the same calm and focused Clint Archer, he suffers from uncontrolled outbursts, mood swings and time lapses.
Ms O'Leary has done a lot of research and the story follows Clint's recovery, he being a SEAL of course trys to push it, and he has to come to terms with the fact he may not get to the fitness standard for a Combat ready SEAL.
Then he finds out that one of his teammates is in trouble, and he needs his help, of course he can’t turn him down, but he's still in the specialist rehabilitation center and with his brain still being swiss cheese, can he keep his head in the game?

The story also focused on how Lydia copes with Clint's injury, she's also got her own worries after realizing something from the incident when she first met Clint and it's stopping her from focusing on their future, but it's something she feels would shock Clint and effect their relationship.

What would you do, when the man you love with all your heart, is not who he once was?

This is what I found the most interesting part of this story, I loved how Ms. O'Leary kept it real, but was also glad that it all worked out in the end.

EXCERPT

He leaped over the ledge.

Whap. Whap. Whap.

Fuck!

More glass shattered. Clint was buffeted with concussions as parts of the building behind him exploded. For a split second, he felt his right foot hitting the other rooftop, while his left foot snagged the ledge.

His vision blurred. He thought he felt a hand gripping his arm.

Then his world went black.

***

“Clint!”

He was underwater.

“Talk to me.”

It was Drake. He sounded worried.

***

“He’s bleeding from his ears.”

Drake again.

“Come on, Clint, talk to me.” Was Drake pleading?

“Hand him to me.” That was Finn’s voice. “I’ve got you, Clint. Are you with me? Can you hear me?”

I’m fine.

Wait a minute. Why can’t I feel my body?

Why can’t I open my eyes?

“The terrorists are still focused on the apartment building. We’ve got to get to Mason at the rendezvous point.”

My plan worked!

“Not too fast, we can’t jostle him,” Drake said. He still sounded worried. That wasn’t right.

“Drake, we’ve got to get to safety. The sooner we can get him to a hospital, the better. We need to get over the border to Turkey.”

I’m fine. You can go fast.

“I said don’t jostle him. We’re going slow. I’m the second-in-command, you’re going to listen to me, you got it?”

Jesus, Drake, you need a chill pill. I’m fine.

But am I?

He couldn’t see. He couldn’t feel anything. Apparently, he could only talk in his head. What had happened?

“Drake, Mason just said the helicopter is almost to the rendezvous point. We don’t have a choice, we’ve got to motor.”

“Listen to me, Archer. You don’t die on my watch, got it!”

Die?

Must be bad.

“Clint, think of Lydia. You gotta be strong,” Drake whispered.

Lydia.

Clint had trouble picturing her face. Then everything went dark again.

But Will doesn't give up.
It was nice to catch up with the rest of the Temptation Crew, and the books set after the last.
This is a standalone story but I think it will make better reading if you've read the others...or after reading this you'll want to go read the rest and get the whole story.
KM Golland has an easy writing style, you slip into her world and get lost in the story.
My weekend disappeared while engrossed in this book.
One of my 2020 favorites.

EXCERPT

His misty eyes hover over my chest, so I cross my arms, shielding his view.
“What are you doing here?” I hiss.
“I’ve come to clean out your pipes.”
“What?”
“Apparently your pipes are blocked.”
I pinch my brow, a headache forming.
“You look confused, sweetheart.”
“I am.”
“Sorry, Will. I had to answer that call—” Carly steps out from behind him, a sneaky smile creeping across her face when her eyes meet mine. “Oh, good. You’re here, Lib. Can you show Will the tap that burst, please?”
“Why?”
She looks at me like I’m an idiot. “Because he’s the plumber.”
“He’s the plumber?” I blink all the blinks.
Will jiggles a metal toolbox dangling from his hand, his smile full of white dazzling teeth, which look contradictory against his bushy beard.
“Of course you are.” I throw my hands in the air, turn on my heel, walk away, and bite out, “Follow me,” not waiting for him to do so.
“You look good wet,” he says, voice low but humorous as he falls into step beside me.
“Oh, shut up.”
He chuckles. “So tell me what happened.”
“I’m not entirely sure.” I huff. "One minute, I’m standing there, and the next, I’m soaking wet.”
I regret the words as soon as they leave my mouth.
He grins. “You wouldn’t be the first woman to say that to me.”

Review blitz: Sexy With Attitude Too: An Opposites Attract, Enemies to Lovers, Small Town RomCom by Emily James

#BLURB

Reasons Luke Stone is off limits:

He’s a cop. I have a criminal past.

His favourite pastime is pulling me over for speeding. Driving fast makes me feel free.

He’s maddeningly hot. I am off men.

He’s my boss’ brother. If they discover my resume is fake, I’ll get fired.

He knows I’m hiding something, and he’s determined to find out what.

So when my boss orders me to cat sit at his place while he whisks his bride away on honeymoon, the last person I expect to share the responsibility with is Luke Stone. AKA the hot-as-hell heart-throb cop.

Surviving him will be impossible. He’s infuriating. He eats all my snacks, makes constant innuendos and walks around half naked, flaunting those rock-hard abs and bulging biceps, making my mouth water.

They say there is a fine line between love and hate. I’ll either end up killing him or sleeping with him.

Please God, let it be the first one.

SEXY WITH ATTITUDE TOO is a HOT RomCom with lashings of banter, fun and all the feels. It is recommended for readers over the age of 18 due to adult content.

#REVIEW #3stars

I had not read OMFG:Operation: My Fake Girlfriend.
But if you had, then this book location would probably be more familiar. But I didnt have any issues reading this as a stand alone.

If you like light hearted rom-com then the book will be right up your alley.
Luke Stone was a bit clichรฉd as in a typical player. But I sure enjoyed Rosies comebacks and attitude towards him.
The books set in a small fictional town in the UK. But in reality it could be any small town... It seems a world wide phenomenon of gossips and grapevines. But I've lived in places like that (some even have Facebook pages now... I could just imagine how the gossips would be furiously messaging about Luke and his latest conquest to be) I felt sorry for Rosies predicament with her past, and she was the character I really connected to. My other favourite was Geraldine... The cat.
The book as a good read that had me laughing. I may have to check out Operation: My Fake Girlfriend. Since this book has Grace and Sebastian in it.

Some of those children will enter adulthood easily, unscathed by the harshness of life, but for others, that journey is not an easy path to follow.

And then there are those, whose journeys are cut short.

He only ever wanted ….. to fit in.
He only ever wanted ….. to be included.
He only ever wanted ….. to have friends.

Alec never wanted for anything.
His parents made sure of that.
But, what Alec desperately wanted, they couldn’t buy.
He just wanted to be normal……..

He could never see what the rest of us could.
Smart. Funny. Good-looking. Sensitive.
Alec only saw what his mind wanted him to see.
And believed the false truths it told him.

Excerpt

Please don’t cry…

I don’t suppose you ever thought you’d hear those three words being said to a man, or ever seen a man cry. There’s a common misconception that men don’t suffer like women. However, I believe this has more to do with the man’s pride than anything else. ‘only sissies cry’ I remember my grandfather calling out after I tripped over a rock in his garden and grazed my knee. ‘What are you, a girl?’ he chastised me at the time.

I was only five years old.
