Title: Bashful
Author: Lo Brynolf
Genre: New Adult Romantic Comedy
Release Date: March 29, 2018

Blurb

Callie Miller loves drama. As a theatre major, that’s a given.

It’s hard to date in the theatre department when all the guys are either taken or gay—like her best friend and longtime crush.

When Callie becomes the lead in the biggest production of the year, she realizes she has no time for love.

Until Sebastian “Bash” Moore reenters her life, stage left.

He left everything behind three years ago to chase his dreams. But his heart remained at home, tied to memories of a tiny blonde with a flair for the dramatics—on and off the stage.

Bash is determined to become her leading man, and he will do anything to get out of the friend-zone and win her love. Only, it might not be so easy.

Callie Miller might love drama, but she’s out to protect her heart…

Bashful

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.** I just absolutely enjoyed reading this book. It was cute, funny, and mixed with a little bit of drama. You definitely get a feel for how the characters feel. The writing is excellent, especially for a debut author. I was highly impressed with the author and her story.
Callie has been doing what she can to leave the past in the past, especially when it involves the one and only Sebastian “Bash”. After Bash left, to further his education for a couple years, Callie was left picking up the pieces of her heart. But was Bash even reciprocating his feelings for Callie? Or was Bash into someone else? 2 Years later, a certain someone returns. Callie finally gets her shot as one of the leading roles in the play at her school, the one and only Bash gets the other role. What can Callie do to protect her heart? Can they remain friends for the sake of their possible futures?
If you want a really great read, I highly suggest this one. You will feel just about every emotion that’s out there as this story plays out.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.*** This was not particularly a great book for me. Not saying it wasn’t well written or bad for others, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. That being said, it was very well written, the descriptions can easily put you in the place, as well as feeling what the characters are feeling. Eva just recently lost her parents, and is working on her grief and sorrow of her loss. While working on that, she is also working on her house one room at a time, making it new and vibrant.
Unbeknownst to her, she is thrown into a community “battle”. She starts writing, and because of her stating facts and her feelings, she gets pushed more in the community then she really wants to. Eva’s High School friend comes for a visit, and you can definitely see there is some kind of strong feelings between these 2. Could we be looking at an HEA? Can HS friends turn to lovers?
Like I mentioned before, this isn’t a book I typically read, but don’t let that deter you into reading this story. It’s a very homey, loving book. The descriptions are fabulous and you feel like you are really there. For someone who loves country, wholesome books. I would highly recommend this

***I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book for my honest review & I thank the publishers Harper Collins NZ***

I reviewed this book and the cover is different to the one here in NZ, my cover is like the hardback.
my book cover

This book was one recommended to me, and the story at first had me thinking what was I reading, but as you peel away the layers of Eleanor you will find the most innocent of characters, who finally is growing into the woman she was supposed to be.

This book deals with the result of children put into the social system, and although Eleanor had all her basic needs met, her emotional needs were failed miserably.

This review is going to be short, because I want readers to go into this book as I did, without expectations, to turn each page and explore the ups and downs Eleanor experiences as she finally begins to open up to the world.

Raymond... I wanted to say a few words about Raymond. he was so nondescript but such a good guy. The book ends with an ambiguous future for Eleanor but in my heart, I hope that she finally ends up with Raymond.

Thanks to Kelly Bold for recommending this book - it was a book that helped me escape a troubling month.

Kat's rating: 4 of 5 stars

*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***

I have books 1 to 3 in this series they have sat on my bookshelf waiting to be read, but life got in the way and I haven't had the chance. BUT I will be grabbing them to read once I get to the UK!

Book 4 I have read as the first and I had no problems with doing that, this is a sign of a good author.
Kate McCarthy has created the story with enough depth that I felt no qualms about jumping in at book 4.
Mac is the younger sister of 3 very over protective brothers and parents that want to wrap her in cotton wool, and turn her into a propper lady... but that is never going to happen as
Mackenzie Valentine is wilful, fiery, and determined to prove she doesn’t need anyone.

As a child she met Jake Romero and he left a lasting impression on her young heart.

By the time she is 17 she is fed up of her over-protective family so she runs away to find Jake.

When Jake first met Mac he was a traumatised boy and after years in the foster system he was thrown into circumstances that led him down a path that leads to notorious gang, the King Street Boys.

Fate and a dusty road throw the pair together, but Jake realises that his life is not the best place for Mac, and he breaks her heart by contacting her brothers, this one action leads to an event that Mac will never get over.

Fate is determined to bring them together again, but will the pair be able to find the right path to love?

Well I will let you find out.

What I will say is that it is a very tough road for both of them but love can conquer all if you give it a chance.

I enjoyed this book very much, I cried in parts, laughed a lot at Mac's Sassy attitude and as I said at the beginning, eager to read the other books as soon as I can

Give Me Hell Teaser 2

EXCERPT

With a low chuckle I roll over on my bed to eyeball the stolen file that I’d slapped on my bedside table last night before crashing. I’m feeling rather pleased with myself until my gaze encounters Jake. My gleeful chortle dies a quick death.
He’s leaning against my bedroom wall, bare-chested, arms folded, and wearing nothing but a pair of black boxer-briefs and a furious glare.
My gaze drops to the bed where Jake has laid out the black beanie used to cover my pale hair, and the black leather gloves that kept my fingerprints from any surface I came in contact with.
Fuck. The sun is streaming in through the blinds and I know it must be late morning already. Clearly I’d forgotten to set the morning alarm. A rookie mistake. And now I need to get past the gauntlet that is Jake and somehow get the file to Casey before he enacts his own plan to retrieve it.
My eyes flick up, meeting his. “Morning,” I say coolly.
His jaw ticks. “Care to explain?”
Jake’s car keys rest on top of the report file and I know he’s seen them. Not only had I performed a break and enter last night, I had also added car theft to my criminal repertoire. Explaining that will likely cause my untimely death. I pretend to consider his question for a moment. “Not really.”
Jake pushes off from the wall and moves toward the bed, bringing him closer. “Well you’re going to.”
“No,” I say, casually sliding across the mattress and away from Jake. “Not today. I have things to—”
Putting one knee on the bed, Jake leans across and grabs the back of my long-sleeved shirt in his fist. He yanks and the distinct sound of a riiipppppp renders the air.
“My shirt,” I gasp as I fly through the air, landing on my back on the mattress with a hard bounce.
“I don’t give a rat’s fucking ass about your shirt,” he growls, straddling my body.
His hard thighs trap me in place and his hands pin mine to the bed. Moving will likely end with a cracked rib.
Jake leans his face down until I can’t look anywhere but in his eyes. “You can start with why you’re dressed like a thieving little bandit.”
“Because I stole your car.”
“Why did you steal my car?”
“Because I couldn’t get a cab.”
I actually considered calling for a taxi but then my movements would be on public record, easily placing me at the scene. I’d had to rule it out.
“Stop leading me in circles, Princess, and spit it the fuck out. What did you do?
I huff deeply, letting my frustration out. Jake isn’t going to just let this go. It leaves me with two choices. Lie or be honest. I chose door number two, because while I sometimes keep things from Jake, he doesn’t deserve outright deceit.
I spill out my early hours adventure, rethinking my choice of honesty as he sits back on the bed, his fury a slow-building thunderstorm.
There’s silence for a tense moment when I finish speaking.
“You committed a felony,” he says in a soft voice. I’m not fooled by the tone. His anger is a barely leashed lion. “And you used my car to do it.”
My lips press in a thin line. I hadn’t thought that particular implication through, and now I’m angry at myself. “I’m sorry.”
His expression narrows to one of vengeful retribution. “Oh you’ll be sorry.”
“I will?”
“When I paddle your fucking ass.”
“Jake—”
“Shut it,” he growls, his voice rising. “You broke into a detective’s house. You stole her property. You—”
“Casey’s property,” I mutter.
“Don’t interrupt me when I’m explaining your stupidity to you.”

*** Gifted in exchange for an honest review***
This is book 5 in this series, and I had not realized this when I signed up for the release. But wow I am going to be reading the first 4 books asap.
Now I was able to enjoy the story despite not reading the rest, but I know that when I read the series from the beginning I will enjoy rereading Chosen Fool even more.
I am not giving any spoilers. But if you've read the series you'll be waiting with baited breath for this book and you won't be disappointed.
I have only read Scarlett Dawn's woodland creek novella before this, and I am definitely looking out for others by ms Dawn, as this book has proved that I will enjoy them.
I love paranormal that's packed with action and interesting characters, and I am confident that this series has it in spades.
If you love series that have loads of curious characters with cool powers, and a world full of mages, elementals, vampires and shifters then you should pick up this series. But from book 1.
This is a New Adult series but it was not overly graphic in the bedroom scenes but if you are offended by m/m then there is one scene that contains reference to a relationship.
I really got engrossed in this book which considering I've not read anything about the world before shows that Ms. Dawn has created a well-rounded plot about how Caro deals with her current status as the Elemental Prodigy.
Now I'm off to find out how she got to be one in the first place.

book blurb
Caroline:

When someone says “Make me stay” in the most dramatic, love-sick kind of way, most people think it sounds desperate, weak, or needy. I, for one, think it sounds like all of the above! I’m not stupid, and I sure as heck am not desperate. In fact, I’m the complete opposite of weak. I’ve lived my live with a steel trap around my heart, and I don’t need anyone—especially a man. So how in the hell did a wannabe rock star get me to say those three words…make me stay?

Kane:

One-woman man? You’ve got to be joking. I was a rock god…in a bar…in a small town…eh, details. I was get-ting women like I was their gift from God. I was going to make it big. My band and I were going to bust out of Small Town, USA, and we were going to knock the pan-ties off every woman in sight. So, when I caught some sexy groupie touching my baby…my beautiful guitar, did I want to test those waters? Hell, yes! But did I want to be a one-woman man? Hell, no! But after that, all I knew was that I wanted to make her stay.

excerpt

We had everything together. How could she leave all that behind…leave me?

I ran through the parking garage, after parking my truck in the first spot I saw. It might have been a handicapped spot. I wasn’t really sure and, right then, I didn’t give a fuck. I bought a ticket so I could get back to the gates. I was rounding the corner when I heard them announce the flight that I knew Kitty was getting on.

I got to the gate, scanning all over but it was nearly empty, the sign above the doorway that lead to the plane was flashing last call. I went to make my way down to the plane, but the ticket lady stopped me. When I looked down the walkway, there at the bottom was Caroline. The large woman still blocking my path, I called to her, “Caroline!”

“Sir, you can’t go down there without a proper ticket,” the pudgy woman said, taking another step forward to block me.

“I need to get down there!” I said frantically.

“I’m sorry but, no ticket, no plane.”

What a bitch.

“Caroline!” I yelled, again.

Kitty stood there, a slight hesitation in her body that I had come to know so well, staring at me. I could have sworn she was going to run back, run to me—that is, until she lifted her chin, fixed the bag on her shoulder, and walked away, taking with her what was left of my heart ©M.E.Gordon.2016
