The lake scene provided a sweet, lovely breather from the high-tension investigation—I think I enjoyed that brief escape just as much as Andi and Luke did.
But as the evidence piled up and Evelyn escalated, the tension hit an all-time high. I honestly could not stop reading and binged the 80% book in a single day. 😞 My husband put his foot down at 2am as we were due up early for an appointment at 7am 🫣.
Without giving anything away, this story feels so authentic, right down to the ending. The realization that situations like this happen in real life just completely broke my heart.
This is definitely a series I will remember—and recommend—for years to come.
