Noun: a difficult, or otherwise unfortunate situation.
Verb: pledge or solemnly promise. Be engaged to be married.
I promised myself to a man. Well, technically, I promised myself to a boy. We were eight years old. Neighbours. He gave me a Cheezel, pushed it onto my finger, and asked me to marry him.
I ate the Cheezel.
I also said, “Yes” but that we’d have to wait until we were thirty.
It was my thirtieth birthday last week and now he’s calling in that promise.
Seriously, Elliot Parker is insane if he thinks that an out of the blue private Facebook message stipulating the binding law of an oral contractual agreement is going to seal our twenty-two-year bullshit engagement.
Insane.
I wonder if he really does look like his profile picture, though.

Kat's rating5 of 5 stars
From the beginning of this book you will realise that you are going to be giggling, sighing and high fiving as you turn the pages.
When Danielle agreed to marry Elliot (Lots - what a cool nickname)
when they were eight years old, little did she think her childhood friend and neighbour would hold her up to it. I mean he gave her a Cheezel, (not sure what one is - check the cover out - which is a cool cover so Well done Hang Le, I like it when the cover has something in common with the contents.
So when 'Lot's proposed Danielle ate the Cheezel and said - Yes... But when she was thirty.
Years pass, Dani's single and in a job she loves, ok so she's not found love - Yet, in fact she has a few issues about the whole commitment thing. But read the book to find out why this is.
Elliot Parker's quirky Facebook message, with its Laweeze and insistence that he was wanting to proceed with the 'oral contractual agreement', was hilarious, and I was on his side from that moment on.
I read the book in a day, not much was done on Sunday, but boy did I enjoy being engrossed in Ms. Golland's characters.
If you want a book that has some substance with humour, romance, and plain old HEA at the end grab a copy now.
I will be ordering a paperback at the next signing Ms. Golland is at, because I know I want this on my shelf.
*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat**

My name is Lucy Tucker, and my life…it was perfect.

I worked the dream job. I had the most incredible family and friends. My home, Whispering Willows, a ranch in Montana, was everything I could ever wish for. My adoring fiancé, Samuel Stone, loved me unconditionally.

I had everything a girl could ever want.

But one fateful event shattered my perfect life. It’s unimaginable how simple, ordinary words can change a person’s life forever. For me those words were, “There’s been an accident.”

I thought Sam was my forever, but that forever came to a close the day Saxon Stone, Sam’s identical twin brother, came back. Saxon returned to Montana to help save Sam, however, the moment he entered my life, he turned my world upside down. But through chaos I somehow found clarity—clarity of who I was meant to be.

As time progressed, as seasons changed, and as a fire began to burn, I soon realized that Saxon was there for another reason…he was there to help save me.

Jenni's Review: Broken Soul by R'Lee Coffey @rleerose_3

Blurb

Two years ago, a horde of bloodthirsty creatures ravaged Kydia Quinn’s home, leaving Whitney Lake a desolate wasteland. The Legion stepped in and took care of business, destroying the monsters and giving Kydia’s life purpose.

Now, a soldier for the creepy-crawly fighting squad (and able to kick butt better than anyone) Kydia can protect the people she loves from the horrible demons that skirt the shadows. But Kydia didn’t count on Grady, a swoon-worthy mystery man that completely throws her off her game. Grady takes the term creepy to a whole new level, strangely fascinated with Kydia to an obsessive degree.

As Kydia struggles to understand what Grady is and what his interest in her is all about, a new and more dangerous breed of monster skates into town, one the Legion thought was extinct.

Kydia finds herself the center of an archaic retaliation that puts her ¬¬life in jeopardy. She can battle monsters until the cows come home, but is she powerless when it comes to saving herself from a curse that threatens to break her soul?

Broken Soul (Broken, Battered, Bruised, #1)Broken Soul by R'Lee Coffey
Jenni's rating: 4 of 5 stars

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.***

This particular book puts your imagination to the test. You are thrown into a “new” world where you’ve never been before in any book.
Kydia lives in Whitney Lake, once a town where monsters took over, till The Legion came around and did their best to clean it up and keep it that way; safe from monsters of all types. Kydia has worked her butt off to become a part of The Legion, doing whatever she can to keep her home, family, and friends safe. Until one night on her way home from training, she runs into a guy named Grady.

The author did great in putting the synopsis of Grady as creepy. You definitely get that creepy vibe from him in this book. Kydia is working so hard in trying to figure out her attraction for him, especially when he’s a part of a family that everyone thought was dead for many of years.
You are put into a fast paced world, filled with action and suspense.

The ending makes you excited for the next book in line. Hopefully filling in the little questions here and there we are all wondering, such as what will happen between Kydia and Grady? This is a quick paced read that will be hard to put down. So find your comfy spot, grab your snacks, and sit down and enjoy! I recommend this book, especially for anyone that loves action and suspense books!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.*** I’ve always been a fan of Helen and this book just makes my obsession even more! You get a great new look in Mythology into today’s world. This story is about the romance of Alec, 1 of 4 of a set of brothers that are Sirens, and Eilidh (Ellie). Ellie just comes upon her own magic and she needs to learn how to control it. Alec does everything he can to protect Ellie, even though he knows he should leave her side. She is forbidden to him yet he is so drawn to her. Duty however calls to him and his brothers to protect any that are in the sights of the Gods.
This book is written really well, the characters come together really well, it’s just the perfect amount of everything you want in a book. It’s not over dramatic, spaced out carefully, and not over written. You couldn’t ask for a better story to read.

So this book is linked to the Highland Wolf Clan Series
which I loved. We Have Sandy, the Beta from the Scottish Pack sent over to help with the Rogue problem the US pack are having problems with. Belle from the Black paw pack is sent to pick Sandy up - she is a bit of a willful gal (our sassy lass) and also a bit reticint at listening to her feelings (it seemed a bit odd to me that she did not recognise her feelings were about meeting her mate) as this seems to be something that is discussed in a pack and she knew about the 'senting ceremony her pack held) but other than that, its another fast paced shifter book from Ms Michaels. I enjoyed the brief inclusion of Cam from the other series too.

Serenity (Inevitable Book 5) by Janet Nissenson @JNissenson

Blurb

Matthew Bennett has suffered the worst sort of betrayal a man can ever know, and he’s trying to put his life back together after years of unhappiness and emotional neglect. He desperately needs the care and devotion of a good woman, someone who will not only erase the hurt he’s experienced, but help him cope with the tremendous stress and responsibility he endures daily as the CEO of a multibillion dollar corporation.

Through the yoga classes that she teaches, and her successful massage practice, Sasha Fonseca spends her days helping others improve their health and wellbeing, and also learning to combat stress. She leads a simple but serene life, content with the little she has, but shies away from any sort of long term commitments or serious relationships. Her unconventional upbringing has also made her fiercely independent, and she won’t let anyone try to mold her into something she’s not ever again.

Sasha is enlisted to help Matthew in a professional capacity, but it isn’t long before she finds herself drawn to him on an emotional and physical level as well. With a woman like Sasha in his life, Matthew finally believes he’s found the happiness that’s eluded him all these years. But will his scheming, soon-to-be ex find a way to destroy him once again, or will he get the happy ending that he deserves?

SerenitySerenity by Janet Nissenson
Jenni's rating: 4 of 5 stars

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.***

This was a really great sweet read. It’s in a series, however it can be read as a standalone.
This story is of Matthew and Sasha. They initially meet at a mutual friends wedding, share a quick dance together and part ways. Sasha is a professional masseuse and yoga instructor. Matthew is a multibillionaire CEO, married, and has 2 teenage kids.
One day leaving work early, due to the flu, he walks in on his wife have an affair. Despite this going on for years, Matthew has finally had enough of it. He kicks her out, and immediately files for divorce.
Upon weeks and months of stress, his friends push him to go see a masseuse to level his stress. He eventually sets an appointment up, and upon arrival he realizes he’s meeting with Sasha from months ago. Eventually one thing leads to another and they are working on a relationship. However, with an impending divorce, his ex wife isn’t making it easy on him.
Can these 2 figure out a way to have a relationship despite a conniving ex wife in the picture? Can Sasha let go a little of her independency to even enjoy a relationship? What about the kids that are involved? You must consider them.
This is a well written book. It’s easily to get sucked into the story, and makes you want to reach into the story to smack the ex wife a good few times! If the others that are in the series are like this one, I definitely look forward to reading more!

☠️⚔️Road to Ruin by Callie Hart & Jonny James⚔️☠️ @_callie_hart

OUT NOW!
Blurb

Malicious Destruction of Property.
Two counts of breaking and entering.
Two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Four counts of assault.
Three counts of illegal gambling.
Three years served in Orleans Parish Prison.

Tommy ‘Havoc’ Kendrick’s rap sheet reads like a recipe for disaster: one part mayhem to three parts chaos. There’s no arguing the matter; he’s a bad guy, or at least he used to be. For the past five years, Tommy’s been on the straight and narrow, keeping his head down and staying out of trouble. He left the French Quarter behind, along with the New Orleans crime syndicates and underground fights that used to pay his bills. Trading in the high-octane thrill of earning money with his fists to work in an auto mechanic’s was hard, and yet somehow, despite everything, he’s made it work.

Until now.

Tommy hadn’t planned on seeing his brother again. When David Kendrick turns up on his doorstep with a bag full of money and four broken ribs, Tommy finds himself heading back to the place he swore he’d never return. Back to the fights. Back to the drinking, the drugs, and the women.

Back to a life he thought he’d left behind for good.

Nikita Moreau has lived in New Orleans all her life. She learned to drive there, lost her virginity there, bought her first house there, and she’s damned if she isn’t going to die there, too. As a prison psychologist at one of the country’s most dangerous facilities, she runs the risk of dying in the state of Louisiana on a daily basis, and yet she wouldn’t give it up for the world. There’s nothing more satisfying than helping those everyone else has given up on. Nothing more rewarding than fixing something everyone said was broken.

The day she meets Tommy Kendrick, however, she learns a painful lesson: sometimes a person is too broken to be fixed. Sometimes a person is beyond reach and cannot be saved. The tall, dark and handsome, tattoo-covered devil is danger personified. She knows this. She knows he’s bad news. So then why can’t she stop thinking about him? Why can’t she stay away from him?

And, most importantly, why won’t she save herself?

So fair warning by the end of this book you will be craving more of Tommy ‘Havoc’ Kendrick and our Enigma Nikita, I say enigma because she has lots of layers, she is a closed book but somehow Tommy is like a match to her fire *HOT AND VOYEURISTIC scenes! this book is Dark, hot and twisted!

Nikita may be a shrink but she sure isn't shy when it comes to Tommy, and hopefully, more will be revealed of what brought both Tommy and Nikita to the people they are today in part 2

Tommy is a bad boy, as the blurb says:
A rap sheet reads like a recipe for disaster: one part mayhem to three parts chaos. There’s no arguing the matter; he’s a bad guy, or at least he used to be. For the past five years, Tommy’s been on the straight and narrow, keeping his head down and staying out of trouble. mmm.... well there you go!

What did I think of it, well I started reading and didn't stop till I got to the dreaded words The end of part one!

It was like being inside my favourite New Orleans TV show - The Originals, without the Vampires lol, not that I am saying that it's like that, but the characters come across as bad, mad and ever so addictive.

I couldn't tell who wrote what and the book read smoothly, you will be left with questions, is Genevive really in love with Alex Bastien, will Tommy and Nikita survive, Nikita is a tough cookie, but she has a past with the No 1 psycho of New Orleans crime boss Alex Bastien, then theres his crazy twin brothers! oh there are lots of interesting characters

I just hope part two is a lot longer ;)
