Zeths back and it’s looking like another wild ride

Having taken a while to get to finally reading this book, I’m glad I finally got to it.

Callie Hart is one of my favourite contemporary authors. For a book to take you out of your comfort zone. Check out her Blood and Roses series then head into this one.
So I have had this book on my Kindle for a while, buying it when it was on sale. I felt like a change of genre and Zeth has been one of my favourite bad book boyfriends. You can never call Zeth good, but boy you would want him to protect you! Sloane is one lucky doctor, what can I say, is he addictive.

I have read the complete Blood & Roses series is as follows: Deviant, Fracture, Burn, Fallen, Twisted and Collateral.

Zeth Mayfair, is an ex mafia enforcer, who until he met Sloane was heading for an early grave… he may still get there but till that time, he’s determined to give Sloane the best life he can give, He’s running his Gym, and trying to stay out of trouble.
Young Mason Reeves comes under Zeth’s radar when he catches him breaking into the gym after closing to train.

Mason is not a thief, just a kid trying to find a way to earn more money legitimately as possible for his sick sister, the medication doesn’t come cheap, and his day job as an auto mechanic only pays so well.
When Zeth catches him and challenges him to fight, and Mason gives all he can, Zeth gives him a choice Mason never expected – to train with him, in open hours, and Mason knows its the best offer he’s going to get if he wants to give Millie the life she deserves, he’s going to have to earn it with his fists. And who better to teach him how to fight than the guy who took down the biggest gangster in Seattle?

Zeth thinks he is free to live life as he want’s and Mason thinks that a few fights are going to get him the extra cash he needs.

What both of them don’t realise is that there are people who haven’t forgotten about the past, and they will use whatever and whom ever they can to get Zeth to do what they want.

By the end of this book, we are left wondering if Mason has just made the biggest mistake of his life joining Zeth in his Gym and fighting for a living. And Zeth has both the Law and a Crime boss after his soul.

Book 2 will be the start of a wild ride if the title of the series gives the reader any clues – Chaos & Ruin, hopefully not for Zeth, Sloane and Mason! I guess I will have to get book 2 to find out

So fair warning by the end of this book you will be craving more of Tommy ‘Havoc’ Kendrick and our Enigma Nikita, I say enigma because she has lots of layers, she is a closed book but somehow Tommy is like a match to her fire *HOT AND VOYEURISTIC scenes! this book is Dark, hot and twisted!

Nikita may be a shrink but she sure isn't shy when it comes to Tommy, and hopefully, more will be revealed of what brought both Tommy and Nikita to the people they are today in part 2

Tommy is a bad boy, as the blurb says:

What did I think of it, well I started reading and didn't stop till I got to the dreaded words The end of part one!

It was like being inside my favourite New Orleans TV show - The Originals, without the Vampires lol, not that I am saying that it's like that, but the characters come across as bad, mad and ever so addictive.

I couldn't tell who wrote what and the book read smoothly, you will be left with questions, is Genevive really in love with Alex Bastien, will Tommy and Nikita survive, Nikita is a tough cookie, but she has a past with the No 1 psycho of New Orleans crime boss Alex Bastien, then theres his crazy twin brothers! oh there are lots of interesting characters

I just hope part two is a lot longer ;)

Rooke by Callie Hart

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Callie Hart writes about hero's that walk just on the edge of darkness, I loved Rooke, Zeth Will always be my first bad boy book boyfriend but Rooke, he's chasing his heels, maybe Zeth still wins because, with Rooke I probably feel like his proud mama instead, as he's the same age as my kids! and on that note, By the end of this book his Mama gets to be on the #Awesomemama list - because even though Rooke thought she was not on his side, a mama always looks after her babies and the scene when she reveals how far she would go for him had me 'high fiving' her and Ms Hart.

So how did this book make me feel - well, in the beginning, it broke me... this line...

And then … everything went black.

well I was sobbing! I am a parent, in a good book where the author creates the scene where the emotions are flowing - I get involved, I feel their pain.

Sasha is broken... she exists, barely and the only highlight in her life is 'Book Club'.

These books are my escape from real life. Because you know what? Real life fucking sucks.

Oh how I know what Sasha means!

She works at the Natural History Museum and one day when she is visiting a colleague's office she bumps into Rooke Blackheath dropping the book she had in her hand when she leaves Rooke picks it up.

He maybe 23 but Sasha interests him, so he turns up at Book Club - they may be poles apart but that won't stop Rooke.

Sasha eventually agrees to a date and...

well the rest you will have to read for yourself

Is it worth it - Yes I think it is, do I want more - Oh I have already begged Ms. Hart to write more.

So fingers crossed this isn't the last we hear of Rook Blackheath (Sigh)

I was lucky enough to receive a copy to review by the Author, I am a huge fan of this series, Callie got me hooked when I first read Deviant! This is a Novella series and you need to read the books in order:

Book 1 is Deviant (This book is currently free on Amazon *18/08/14.

Book 2 is Fracture, Book 3 is Burn, Book 4 is Fallen. And they all ROCK!

So what can I tell you without giving the game away...

Well we learn more of how Zeth grew to be the way he is (oh I loved this aspect of the book)

we also get to know a bit more of why Lacey is so troubled (I just wanted to hug her)

Charlie lives up to his Crazy OTT Crime Boss, Callie certainly knows how to create dark characters.

And Slone... well Sloane continues to grow in character and strength.

Zeth shows a bit of a softer side, and Sloane's influence is starting to show in his actions.

BUT he is still the Big Bad Wolf that I first got hooked on!

Callie Hart grips you with the story line throughout this series, and I like how in this installment you also get to read more on Zeth's right hand man Micheal, Micheal is 'Rebel's' Cousin and I am sure he has a soft spot for Lacey - HINT HINT CALLIE, I don't want this series to end!

(AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR The spin off REBEL, either!!!!!)

I am not a fan of Series books, BUT Callie Hart has got the mix just right, OK the books end on a certain amount of a cliffhanger leaving you gagging for the next book, BUT you know that it won't be too long before the next book comes out.

So ONCE AGAIN Callie Hart - 5 Zethalicious Stars!!!! It was a Fantastic read, and I will be ordering myself Paperbacks to go with my lovely copy of Deviant.
