The bird-shifters have ruled the world passing as angels for what feels like an eternity.
To avoid history repeating itself, in the aftermath of the revolution that took over Paris, a council made of both humans and shapeshifters was created.
Their first order: to help smooth relations between the two kinds by forcing shapeshifters back to school to make them learn “forgotten” human languages.
Shapeshifters are the only ones who “forgot” those languages, though, so the aim is mostly to help everyone meet halfway.
It’s not a bad idea. If only it applied to someone else—anyone else.
My personal life is a mess, and until now, my mess stopped at the door to my classroom.
Until him.
Louis is charming, cocky, and insufferably persistent. He’s decided I’m his new prey.
I have no doubt that under his skin crawls a predator—one who wants to devour me whole, but one I’ll have to avoid at all costs.
My name is Constance, I’m a human French teacher, and I’m about to test the limits of the “no fraternizing with students” rule the school has in place. Or maybe the limits of my own sanity.
Or maybe both. Definitely both.
Only time will tell.

QUICK IMPRESSION
The story flows easily, and I had no problem understanding the world it was set in. The characters were enjoyable, and I was enjoying the push and pull of their attraction.
KEY CHARACTERS
• [Character 1: Constance Le Jardin]: [Role: French teacher/Class: Human.] Constance is stressed as her principal is trying to get the language classes canceled, and she has no social life.
• [Character 2: Louis Dumont]: [Role: Student/Class: Wolf shifter]. Alpha of his pack, the ruling council has decreed that shifters must learn the county's language in an attempt to coexist.
FINAL THOUGHTS
• The Good: The pacing was perfect; Louis had to work at seducing Constance. The banter and tension were just right. The second detention made em hungry for pastries!
• The Bad: I couldn't really think of anything. With it being a novella, you don't expect a lot of world-building, and the scenes were descriptive enough to immerse you in the storyline. It is mostly focused on the FMC and MMC.
• Verdict: An enjoyable novella that did the teacher/student trope well, set in an adult school. The writing style was clean and flowed well. The world intrigued me enough to go check out book 1, Even Angels Fall, to explore the world Ms. Sauvage has written.
