The Greatest Risk is to Take No Risk At All.
Nationwide food shortages have sparked civil unrest, and the Office of Civilian Safety and Defense’s hold on the people is slipping. The Resistance’s efforts to hasten the OCSD’s demise have resulted in disaster, with Tommy Bailey and Careen Catecher taking the blame for the ill-fated mission in OP-439.
Both teens struggle to survive the circumstances that force them into the national spotlight—and this time, they’re on opposite sides. On the run and exiled from the Resistance members in BG-098, Tommy makes his way to a Resistance safe house in the capital.
The OCSD is preparing to monitor all under-eighteens with the Cerberean Link, a device that protects them against hunger and sickness and can even locate them if they’re lost. Tommy’s now living in close quarters with Atari, an operative who’s been assigned to sabotage the Link. But does Atari plan to use it for his own purposes?
Through it all, Tommy refuses to believe Careen’s loyalties have shifted away from the Resistance, and he’s willing to assume any risk to reconnect with her. Will they be able to trust each other when it matters most?

Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***
PS - I wrote my review via the Goodreads App on my phone only for it to disappear leaving only the line -this is not a trilogy below?????????? #Gremlins at work! so lets try #take2
Okay. .. this series is not a trilogy - so be warned, but YAY the story continues!
This third installment was a tense one,
With food shortages and Careens messages via Peoplecam there is wide spread civil unrest, and OCSD's hold on the situation is slipping under the leadership of Madalyn.
But the Resistance is just as unorganised and Max causes their efforts to back fire with is so called plan to help... with its tragic outcome Tommy and Careen are blamed and Max is made out to be a hero!
Careen ends up getting caught and she is in for a very rough ride, and Tommy finally has to grow up and accept responsibility for his actions - and sets off to help rescue Careen.
The OCSD next plan in nationwide control of the people is the 'Cerberean Link', a device the OCSD will say is to protect. But is it? Being under constant surveilance by the OCSD to me sounds like being tagged and on house arrest to me!
The Double agent Atari, designed the Link. But is he on the side of the resistance? or does he have his own agenda - we are yet to find out.
So what did I think about this latest book in this series - It was a very good story that showed that being in the Resistance isn't as simple as it may first seem.
The Characters are all at odds to what the next step should be, Mitch the Resistance leader seems to have a secret agenda too.
At the end of this book, I learned that there are no black and whites, but constant shades of greys - will Tommy and Careen's blossoming relationship survive her capture? has she been broken beyond repair?
These characters have tough decisions to make...
What is the fate of the US Population - Being drugged into a submissive army may have been stalled for now, but all the kids being ' chipped' may just give the OCSD enough leverage that the adult population would submit to any demand to keep their ofspring safe!
I guess we will have to wait for the 4th book in the series to find out. - Thank goodness its not too far off in the future! ( OMG did I just say that! - I have yet to start my xmas shopping!!! I AM NOT READY FOR 2017!!!!!!)

Author Bio

Once upon a time, Tracy Lawson was a little girl with a big imagination who was obsessed with telling stories. Her interests in dance, theatre, and other forms of make-believe led to a twenty-year career in the performing arts, where “work” meant she got to do things like tap dance and choreograph musicals. A mid-life career change has yielded thus far Counteract, Resist, and Ignite in the YA dystopian Resistance Series, and a nonfiction history book entitled Fips, Bots, Doggeries, and More.
Tracy, who is married with one college-aged daughter and two spoiled cats, splits her time between Dallas, Texas and Columbus, Ohio.
